  • Today in Math class, we learned about how to measure using fractions. You were supposed to measure a line with a shaded part, and see what fraction of the line was shaded. You would write the fraction and write. :-) Angelo Flores :-)
  • Today in Science class, we started to present our types of energy projects. Today we got through five projects; we need three more to finish. In the morning we will present the last three projects to finish our presentations. :) Tasi Koutsis :)
  • Today in Reading class, we drew a plot chart on A Long Walk to Water. We wrote down who has the worst problem: Salva or Nya. (Ed. note: We identified the climaxes in Chapter 14). That was all we did. :-) Giovanni Rocha :-)
  • Today in Social Studies class, we went over the study guide (for chapter one vocabulary) and our current events quiz. We then watched CNN Student News. Astronaunt John Glenn died but served in politics. Aleppo used to be the largest city in Syria. Rebels took over Aleppo in 2012. Donald Trump is the [Time Magazine] Person of the Year. There are some kilobots that change from blue to red and green. In Japan, there were penguins dressed for Christmas. :) Ariana Canela :)
  • Today in Ms. Reodica's Writing class, we finished the [Last Stop on 63rd Street] booklet. We also finished journal entry number nine. We started working on our peer editing for 63rd Street. :-) Kenny Bischoff :-)
  • Today in Mr. Maynard's Writing class, we did our lightbulb and checked our classmates' Last Stop on 63rd Street story. The lightbulb is something we are wishful in the world, in our school, or in the New Year. Today we wrote what we were wishful for on a lightbulb. Our whole school is doing it. Today for homework we need to study the types of nouns because we have a quiz on Monday morning. :) Nailani Deaton :)

Here's the recap of a day when there was plenty of energy (some +, some -).

  • Today in Math class, we started off with a "What Year Am I?" Then we learned about fractions and how to fold paper into fractions. :) Chris Heubaum :)
  • Today in Science class, we finished our energy poster and then we presented it to the class. As we presented, we learned about other types of energy. :-) Chris Heubaum :-)
  • Today in Writing class, we learned about how we need to make a wish about the world, our school or the new year that is coming up. I believe that it was a very good question to write about. I decided to write about all three: school, the New Year and the world. When I turned it in, I felt good about my wishes because they weren't about me but everyone. :-) Nijuana Conway :-)
  • Today in Writing class, we did a D.O.L. and reviewed possessive nouns. We kept editing our Last Stop on 63rd Street books. Then we got ready for gym. :) Fabian Gandara :)
  • Today in Reading class, Mr. Maynard told us that we are going to read a book called The Book Itch, and how we will get a light bulb to put a wish on. Then we read Chapter 13 of A Long Walk to Water. We also learned about positive and negative mood words. We had a discussion about these words and worked on a Venn diagram comparing and contrasting Nya's boss with Salva. :) Devin Chadwell :)
  • Today in Social Studies class, we had a debate on Pearl Harbor and read an article about it. CNN was mostly about what happened in the real world (ed. note: a new Cold War, Indonesian earthquake, etc.) :-) Jafet Cerritos :-)
