Today was certainly a strange day for various reasons. With that said, we got through it, and a three-day weekend is the reward. Here's a quick update of what happened in class.
  • In Writing, students did a word ladder on "Things That Go Bump in the Night," matched their identities to a checklist of nouns, and then began writing their final two sections of their personal narratives, focusing upon their identities (who they are now) and futures (who they will be in 10 years).
  • In Reading, students took a short-answer quiz wrapping up the first five week's of content in reading class, including summarizing strategies, text evidence, and character identities from Because of Mr. Terupt.
  • In Social Studies, we prepared our next book report on "Going for the Gold" and watched CNN Student News, learning about Hurricane Matthew's effects on Florida and South Carolina. Next week, we will begin our next unit on "Electing a President," which should be a lot of fun.
  • Progress reports for the first quarter were distributed at the end of the day, as was important information about the potential strike.
To celebrate the weekend, check out this cool music, especially the awesome songs "It's Good To Be Young!" and "Real Magic." from one of my favorite musicians around, Ferraby Lionheart. :-)

Dear. Mr. Maynard,

Today I had a lot of fun. I say our class had (room#201) a Good Friday today. It was a little tricky, but we got through it. The debate game was so so much fun..

THANK YOU SO SO MUCH!!

Sincerely, Kaitlyn Van Dyke,
