Today was a busy but very good day in the classroom with progress report grades due this afternoon and coming out on Friday. Unfortunately, we did not have time to have students do the "Daily Diary Blog" today, but we will continue to do this with students |
tomorrow and ramp this up in the remaining five weeks of the first quarter.
Here's a quick recap of the day.
Progress reports will be distributed tomorrow, along with a note as Ms. Reodica and Mr. Maynard want to host an informational night with fifth-grade parents in the coming weeks about our expectations, routines, procedures, etc., so that we are all working together as a team (we will have to play this by ear and see what will happen next week with a potential strike).
See you tomorrow!
Here's a quick recap of the day.
- In Writing class, students were on top of their games, coming prepared with their "Family" section and bringing great creative energy while writing their "School" section. The students asked Mr. Maynard a lot of great questions.
- In Reading class, we redid the vocabulary quiz from yesterday as Mr. Maynard wanted to give students another chance to bring up scores (and realized that the format of the first quiz could have been better for you guys and girls -- it is learning process for Mr. Maynard too). Tomorrow we will have a short answer quiz on the first five weeks of reading, focusing on our summarizing strategies, characters from Because of Mr. Terupt, and citing text evidence.
- In Social Studies, we took our open notebook quiz on the last week's worth of CNN Student News and continued to learn about electing the President in the United States, including amendments, or laws, that allow voting, and the requirements for voting. Room 201 was able to watch CNN Student News this afternoon, and Room 203 will catch up tomorrow. I will include a link to the program on the "Homework" page.
